The Presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia – Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin met in Beijing on the margins of the “One Belt – One Way” international forum, the press service of the Russian leader said.

The leaders of the two countries noted the dynamic development of Azerbaijani-Russian relations in various fields. “We are meeting with you regularly; we have the opportunity not only to exchange opinions, to check hours, but also to adjust our joint work. In general, in my opinion, it goes very well. Trade and economic ties are developing. On your initiative, we have even created a special mechanism of interaction in the trade and economic sphere. In my opinion, this initiative is developing well,” Putin said. According to Aliyev, summits give a very serious impetus to the development of relations. “We meet regularly and, of course, we solve very important issues of cooperation, interaction in all areas. We are very satisfied with how our relationship develops. They cover all areas. An active political dialogue is underway. We are seeing an increase in commodity turnover,” said the head of Azerbaijan. He called the transport and logistics sector an important area of cooperation. “And here we have a good result. In energy, agriculture, humanitarian cooperation.

I think that the level of relations today is such that it allows us to solve many issues, both the bilateral agenda and the regional one. Therefore, I am confident that our current meeting will also give a good impetus to the future development of relations, which are based on friendship, good-neighborliness, mutual support and mutual respect. We cherish these relations, appreciate them very much and look forward to moving forward,” he continued. According to Putin, last year trade increased by 14 percent and reached $ 2.5 billion. “And on the international agenda we also have many common questions. We agreed that in August we will hold another Russian-Azerbaijani-Iranian summit in Russia,” Putin said.
