The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released a statement on the evacuation of the body of the Azerbaijani citizen, who was fatally wounded by Kazakh border guards on April 30.
“A military ship of the Border Service of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan in the Mangistau region, carrying the body of Gahraman Ibrahimov has left for Azerbaijan on May 5 with the participation of Azerbaijani diplomatic mission. The body will be handed over today to the Azerbaijani side in the common maritime space of the Caspian Sea,” said the Foreign Ministry.
Sending a note to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry expressed condolences to the bereaved Azerbaijani family and pledged a thorough and objective investigation of the incident.
On April 30, the officers of the Coast Guard of the Border Service of the Kazakh National Security Committee detained Azerbaijani citizens in the Caspian Sea.
The border guards used a gun while detaining Gahraman Ibrahimov and three others. Consequently, Ibrahimov was shot dead, while two were wounded.
