​Georgia’s coronavirus cases grow – Report.az

Georgia confirmed six new cases of a novel coronavirus, pushing the tally to 677 as of May 16, Report says citing StopCoV.ge.

As many as 419 people have recovered from the disease, while 12 others died in the country.

Three infected Georgian citizens have been transferred from neighboring countries to Georgia for treatment. Currently, 3873 people are kept in a 14-day mandatory quarantine, while 396 remain under observation in hospitals.

Georgia declared a state of emergency until May 22 to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Georgia will lift restrictions limiting the size of group gatherings to three on May 18. The same day, beauty salons and aesthetic medicine centers will also open in the country.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to 212 countries and territories since then.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
