Closing ceremony of “The Week of Turkic World Museums” held

As known, within the framework of cooperation of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Center of Child and Youth Development under the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan, the «Week of the Turkic World Museums» was organized from 18-24th May. The goal of the program was to give pupils the opportunity to discover the museums of the Turkic Word, encourage youth towards a deeper understanding of the history, culture, and arts of Turkic countries during quarantine regime, which was established in countries due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The closing ceremony of the Week of Turkic World Museums was made online on 24th May 2020.

The ceremony attendees included the President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva, the Director of the Republican Center of Child and Youth Development Firuza Sultan-zade, representatives of the museums of Turkic-speaking states participating in the project, and also pupils from various regions of the country.

In her speech, the President of the Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva expressed her gratitude to all participants of the project. She noted that these virtual excursions have allowed getting in touch with the history and culture of the Turkic World and to get acquainted more closely with the national-spiritual values of Turkic people. She expressed her wish that in the future, this project will adopt a consistent character and encompass pupils from the whole Turkic world.

The Director of the Republican Center of Child and Youth Development Firuza Sultan-zade, in her turn, noted that close cooperation was established with museums participating in the Turkic world week during the project. The expansion of the program also provided: an increase in the number of museums and the involvement of more children from Turkic speaking countries. Then, she announced the start of the competition to determine the winners of the project.

Later, the video clips prepared by children about various museums were shown, and a quiz was also held on the knowledge of historical and cultural information demonstrated by museums of the Turkic-speaking states. The most active participants were awarded certificates and prizes from the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and diplomas from the Center of Child and Youth Development under the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan.

Notably, within the framework of the project virtual excursions were made to museums of member and observer-states of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation. On 18th May in the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, on 19th May in National Museum of Kazakhstan, on 20th May in the Kyrgyzstan National Museum of Fine Arts, on 21st May in Troy Museum of

Turkey, on 22nd May State Museum of History of Uzbekistan, on 23rd May in the National Museum of Hungary.

The total number of visitors and views of the broadcasted on a social network, The Week of Turkic World Museums”, was about 5000 per week.
