​Azerbaijan: Coronavirus cases by region

The statistics of COVID-19 infections in Azerbaijan’s regions have been unveiled.

Capital Baku accounts for 50% of all cases in the country, Report says.

Ganja-Gazakh region (12.5%), Absheron (11.6%), Aran (9.3%), Lankaran (7.3%), Shaki-Zagatala (1.7%), Guba-Khachmaz (1.4%), Yukhari Karabakh (1.1%), Daghlig Shirvan (1.6%) regions and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (0.05%) follow the list.

As for the districts of Baku, the highest rates are recorded in Sabunchu (12.4%), Yasamal and Binagadi (each 12.3%), followed by Khatai (11.6%), Nasimi (11%), Surakhani (9.4%), Narimanov (9.1%), Nizami (7.2%), Garadagh (7%), Khazar (4.4%), Sabail (3%) and Pirallahi (0,3%).

The spread of the coronavirus in Azerbaijan has mostly hit people aged 50-59 years (21%). It is followed by the age group from 30 to 39 years (18%), 60-69 years (16%), 40-49 years (15%), 20-29 years (14%), 10-19 years (6%), 0-9 years (5%), 70-79 years (4%), over 80 years (2%).

So far, Azerbaijan has 8,530 confirmed cases and 102 related deaths. The country’s recoveries stand at 4,720, the treatment of 3,708 people is underway. A total of 356,032 coronavirus tests have been conducted across the country.

The country imposed a month-long lockdown on March 24 and first extended it until May 31, then June 15.
