​Global COVID-19 cases top 8 million

The global tally of COVID-19 pandemic has spiked to 8,006,634.

The number of people who recovered from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has risen to 4,133,880 worldwide, while the death toll stands at 435,840 worldwide.

The highest number of cases is in the US (2,162,228), Brazil (867,882), and Russia (537,210).

Neighboring Turkey reported 178,239 cases, 4,8807 related deaths, and 151,417 recoveries so far. Iran confirmed 187,427 cases and 8,837 fatalities. Georgia’s overall cases amount to 879.

So far, Azerbaijan confirmed 9,957 cases. A total of 5,583 patients have recovered from the disease, while 119 others passed away.

Meanwhile, in Asia, where the disease began, the spread continues, although, in China, it seems, for now, to have passed its peak.

In Europe, most countries have closed schools, and many are in lockdown.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to over 200 countries and territories since then.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
