​EOC to elect new president in 2021

The European Olympic Committees will hold an election for the post of president at its meeting in autumn 2021, EOC Communications and Media Relations Officer Donatella Del Gaudio told TASS.

“According to the EOC’s charter, Niels Nygaard, the committee’s first vice president, will serve as interim president until the fall of next year,” said the media representative.

The President of the European Olympic Committees, Janez Kocijancic, died 79 on June 1 after a long illness. Kocijancic headed the organization since 2017.

The European Olympic Committees is an organization based in Rome, Italy, consisting of 50 National Olympic Committees from the continent of Europe. The EOC organizes three major multi-sport events, including the European Youth Olympic Festival, the games of the Small States of Europe, and the European Games.
