Kazakhstan resumes international air service
Kazakhstan will gradually recommence international flights to Turkey, Georgia, China, South Korea, Japan, and Thailand from June 20.
In late May, Chairman of the country’s Civil Aviation Committee Talgat Lastayev announced the state develops a phased reopening to travel, first to China, South Korea, Azerbaijan, then to Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Germany, and the Czech Republic.
Kazakhstan suspended both domestic and international flights from March 16 to May 11 to curb the spread of coronavirus and resumed internal air transport from May 25.
The total number of coronavirus cases confirmed in the country since it detected the virus, amounted to 16,779 cases. That includes 10,411 people who recovered from the coronavirus and 113 patients who passed away.
Kazakhstan confirmed the first two cases of coronavirus infection among those who arrived in Almaty city from Germany on March 13, 2020.
