According to Johns Hopkins University, over the past day, the US has confirmed 39,972 new cases, while another 2,425 fell victim to the virus.

According to the University, so far, the US has recorded 2,422,312 COVID-19 cases, while the death toll stands for 124,415 deaths. More than 663 thousand people have recovered since the beginning of the pandemic.

Worldwide, according to the University, more than 9.6 million people were infected with the coronavirus, and more than 489.5 thousand people with confirmed COVID-19 died.
