Mehriban Aliyeva congratulates police officers

First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva has made an Instagram post on the occasion of 2 July – the Day of the Police of Azerbaijan, Report says. 

In a post on her official Instagram account, Mehriban Aliyeva says: “I sincerely congratulate all policemen on their professional holiday! In these difficult days, we have all witnessed the decisive steps you have taken for our citizens’ health, your high civic responsibility, and professionalism! I wish each of you and your relatives the best of health and happiness.”

Based on Order No 710 of National Leader Heydar Aliyev dated May 24, 1998, July 2 – the day of establishment of the first police structures within the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1918 – was announced the Azerbaijan Police Day.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the police authorities within its organizational structure played an essential role in defending the national interests of our first independent state showing a great patriotism in the period of their activity in the years 1918-1920, developed for 70 years of the Soviet period and gained high results and rich experience in protecting public order. Especially the years 1970-1980s, which are remembered for the great achievements reached by our country in economic, social, and other spheres under the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev were the most significant years in the history of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
