ECB to issue new banknotes

The European Central Bank (ECB) announced it would issue new banknotes with the signature of current President Christine Lagarde, the Bank wrote on its twitter page, Report informs.

“We’ve just received the first banknotes featuring President Lagarde’s signature. The €5 and €10 notes will be the first with the new signature to enter into circulation, starting next week. Those with the signature of former presidents will remain legal tender.” The ECB said on twitter.

Christine Lagarde has been the President of the ECB since November 1, 2019. There have been banknotes featuring signatures of only three Presidents (Wim Duisenberg 1998-2003, Jean-Claude Trichet 2003-2011, and Mario Draghi 2011-2019).
