CSTO Secretary General calls an emergency meeting on situation on Armenia-Azerbaijan border

Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Stanislav Zas has initiated an extraordinary meeting of the CSTO Permanent Council to discuss the current escalating situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Report says, citing TASS.

“In connection with the escalation of the situation in the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, which started as a result of a military clash in the direction of Armenia’s Tavush province on July 12, CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas has initiated today an extraordinary meeting of the CSTO Permanent Council”, the statement says.

Starting on July 12, units of the Armenian armed forces,  grossly violating the ceasefire regime in the Tovuz region of the Azerbaijani-Armenian state border, shelled our positions with artillery.

Service members of the Azerbaijan Army, non-commissioned officer, sergeant Sadigov Vugar Latif and senior soldier Mammadov Elshad Donmez died in holding off an enemy attack.

Despite our doctors’ efforts, a severely wounded serviceman of the Azerbaijan Army, soldier Dashdemirov Khayyam Mahammad died.

The tension in the Tovuz direction of the Azerbaijani-Armenian state border continued on the night of July 13.
