Pakistan condemns Armenian attack on Azerbaijan’s Tovuz district

In a press statement issued by the Foreign Office of Pakistan on Tuesday, Pakistan says that the unresolved conflict of Nagorno-Karabakh poses a serious threat to regional peace and security. Report informs citing the DND News Agency from Islamabad.

“Pakistan strongly condemns the attack by Armenian forces on the Tovuz district of Azerbaijan on July 12, 2020, which resulted in several casualties. We extend our sincere condolences to the bereaved families in Azerbaijan.”

The recent provocative action is a manifestation of the Armenian attempt to distract the international community and hamper the ongoing negotiation process for peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as enshrined in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.  

Pakistan reaffirms its principled position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and reiterates its support to the Republic of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.  It may be mentioned that Azerbaijan has destroyed Armenian military installations facilities from where attacks were conducted yesterday against Azerbaijani territory.
