Indian PM’s Twitter account hacked

Twitter said one of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s accounts had been hacked. The company was taking steps to protect it and was actively investigating the situation.

According to NDTV, the hackers gained access to the narendramodi_in page and sent a request to all subscribers to donate cryptocurrency to the National Assistance Fund established by the Prime Minister.

“We are aware of this and have taken steps to preserve the seized account. We are actively investigating the situation. We don’t know what other accounts the hackers have taken at the moment,” Twitter’s representative noted.

The page narendramodi_in, with more than 2.5 million subscribers, is the official Twitter of Modi’s website, which features the prime minister’s speeches. The last note in this account was published on August 31.

The incident did not affect his personal Twitter page, which has more than 61 million subscribers.
