Madrid freezes in lowest temps for 75 years

Temperature in Madrid have plunged to their lowest for 75 years as the big freeze in Spain continues. Madrid’s Barajas Airport shivered at minus 13.2 degrees Celsius in the early hours of this morning, the lowest temperature since 1945, and Arganda del Rey on the outskirts of the Spanish capital was minus 15.4 Celsius.

The lowest overnight temperature was recorded at Molina de Aragon a two-hour drive north-east of Madrid – a shocking minus 25 degrees.

In Spain’s second city Barcelona two people died of suspected hypothermia. A 32-year-old man was found dead in Parc de la Ciutadella, the Catalan capital’s greenest oasis, and a 38-year-old in Poeta Bocsa square by Barceloneta Market.
