Journalists visit Azerbaijan’s Hadrut settlement, only 900-year-old eastern plane remains intact

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has organized a media tour to the Hadrut settlement of the Khojavend district, which was liberated from occupation.

Report’s employee sent to Khojavend said that the head of the sector of the ministry, Mehman Nabiyev, told reporters that the 900-year-old eastern plane tree in the village of Hadrut, registered as a natural monument, wasn’t destroyed by the Armenians.

He noted that the plane tree’s diameter is 450 centimeters, its height is 40 meters: “There are 12 such natural monuments in Khojavend, seven of which are eastern plane trees. Three eastern plane trees in Hadrut have been preserved to attract tourists. This gives grounds to say that the Armenians, living in the village of Hadrut, used the local natural monuments for tourist purposes and didn’t destroy them. However, in the territories where they didn’t live, they destroyed natural monuments that are about 2,000 years old.”

“Only sprouts remained from the historical monuments in Zangilan, Gubadli, Jabrayil and Fuzuli districts. The enemy’s goal was to erase the traces of Azerbaijanis in these territories. Therefore, they destroyed monuments there,” Nabiyev said.
