Russian ophthalmologist dispels popular vision restoration myth

Russian ophthalmologist Vyacheslav Kurenkov, in an interview with Sputnik Radio, has explained how to take care of eyes and if carrots and blueberries help restore vision, Report informs.

“Some foods do contain substances that are good for the eyes. But it makes no sense to consume them in large quantities, because the body will not absorb vitamins and minerals for future use, except the needed daily dose. Therefore, the fact that carrots, blueberries, and other foods can affect vision is a myth,” the doctor emphasized.

“There is no need to eat kilograms of carrots or consume tons of blueberries, it will lead nowhere. There is a daily digestibility of these substances by the body. If you eat a kilogram of carrots, it does not mean that it is the kilogram of carrots that will be absorbed. The body will take exactly as much as it needs, and this, for example, will be 15 micrograms per day, and everything else will come out through the digestive tract,” Kurenkov said.

According to him, a healthy diet, normalized work and rest time, as well as physical exercises in the fresh air are sufficient to maintain normal vision.
