Pfizer says three months needed to create vaccine against strain of concern

Pfizer will be able to create the vaccine against the coronavirus strain that can bypass the protection of the current drug developed by the company in three months. However, no such strain has been identified yet, the company’s general director Albert Bourla told Fox News, Report informs, citing RIA Novosti.

“Every time that the variant appears in the world, our scientists are getting their hands around it,” Bourla said, “They are researching to see if this variant can escape the protection of our vaccine. We haven’t identified any yet, but we believe that it is likely that one day, one of them will emerge,” he said.

Bourla added that the company would be able to create a vaccine against a strain of concern within 95 days.

Earlier in the week, the US Food and Drug Administration decided to fully approve the coronavirus vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech.
