Taliban set up body to purge corrupt officials from ranks

A joint commission of the Intelligence Service, the Interior Ministry, and the Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan has been set up to purge the ranks of the Taliban from corrupt persons, Report informs, citing RIA Novosti.

“A joint commission, set up by the General Directorate of Intelligence, the Defense Ministry and the Interior Ministry by order of the ministers of the Islamic Emirate to purge the ranks and groups of the Taliban from bad and corrupt people, today officially began its work across the country,” Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid wrote on Twitter.

Earlier, Interior Ministry spokesman Qari Saeed Khosti said that the interim government of Afghanistan, appointed by the Taliban, is creating a commission to purge its ranks of corrupt and unworthy persons. The statement noted that the talk is about people, who got positions with the help of relatives, criminals, people with a dubious past, or officials, who cause hatred of the local population.
