Number of foreign investors registered in Azerbaijan in 2021 revealed

From January through September 2021, 8,628 commercial organizations passed state registration in Azerbaijan, 24.7% more than in the same period last year, Report informs, citing the State Tax Service of the Azerbaijani Economy Ministry.

According to the data, 82.9% of these organizations were registered online, and 17.1% – through submitted papers. The share of electronic registration of companies with limited liability with local investments was 92.5%.

In September 2021, 1,146 commercial organizations passed state registration, 36.9% more than in September 2020. During the month, 960 commercial organizations that passed state registration were registered online, and 186 submitted paper copies of documents.

Of the commercial organizations registered in January-September 2021, 91% were local, 9% – foreign. Compared to the same period of 2020, the number of state-registered commercial organizations with local investments increased by 36.3%. As of October 1, 2021, 16,499 commercial legal entities with foreign investments had passed state registration. Of these, 11,076 were active, 4,544 suspended activities, and 879 were liquidated.

About 35% of foreign-invested companies registered in September had their investments from Turkey.

Turkey is followed by Iran (14.3%), Georgia (11.6%), Pakistan (5.4%), China (4.5%), Sri Lanka (3.6%), and Russia (2.7%).
