Russian citizens may be banned from buying real estate in Georgia, Report informs, citing Business Press News.

Georgian citizen Mamuka Gvadzabia appealed to the legislature with the proposal. According to him, as long as Russia occupies the territories of Georgia, the Russian citizens should be prohibited from buying/registering real estate in Georgia.

By the decision of the parliamentary bureau, the Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules was instructed to consider the legislative initiative. After that, the bureau will announce its decision on the issue.

According to Business Press News, there is no exact data on the number of real estates acquired by Russian citizens in Georgia in recent years. However, according to the data of 2019, 40% of real estate registered by foreigners in Georgia over the past four years fell on Russian citizens.
