Georgia’s Saakashvili collapses and faints in hospital


“The state of health of former President Mikheil Saakashvili, who has been in custody in Georgia since October 1, 2021, has deteriorated. He fainted and fell unconscious today,” the local bureau of Report says that his lawyer Beka Basilaia told journalists.

Whereas the Georgian Special Penitentiary Service said that Saakashvili’s state of health was stable. It was noted that the resuscitation doctor would soon make comments for the media.

The former president was detained in Tbilisi on October 1. On November 8, he was transferred from Prison No 12 in Rustavi to the clinic of Gldani Prison in Tbilisi. Saakashvili has been on a hunger strike for 49 days since his detention.
