Tokayev instructs to speed up creation of special operations forces

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has instructed the secretary of the Security Council to speed up work on the creation of special operations forces, Report informs citing Kazakh media.

He gave this order following a meeting with the heads of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the National Security Committee, the ministries of defense and internal affairs, as well as the Presidential Administration and the Security Council Office.

The head of state was informed about the progress of the pre-trial investigation of the events that took place in a number of regions in the first ten days of January, the results of special operations carried out, as well as other measures to ensure public security in the country.

Tokayev also instructed to comprehensively investigate the tragic events in the country, in particular, in Almaty, to establish the exact number of deaths among the civilian population, and to develop a new regulatory framework for coordinating the actions of law enforcement agencies in critical situations.
