Omicron-related COVID-19 wave subsides in Italy

The wave of coronavirus associated with the Omicron strain has plateaued in Italy and is on the decline, Report informs, citing RIA Novosti that this was announced on Monday by Commissioner for the COVID-19 emergency General Francesco Figliuolo.

“We have good news: it seems that we have reached a plateau, and the curve in terms of omicron is going down,” he was quoted by the news channel Tgcom24 as saying.

Figliuolo, who visited a major vaccination center in Milan on Monday, expressed the hope that the current wave of COVID-19 could now subside quickly. If this leads to the transformation of the disease into an endemic infection, we will all be satisfied, but now everything possible must be done to vaccinate children and distribute booster doses, the commissioner said.
