Volodymyr Zelensky, Charles Michel discuss de-escalating tension around Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the European Council (EU) Charles Michel discussed ways of de-escalating the current tension around the country, TASS reports, citing the press service of the Ukrainian president, Report says.

The talks focused on coordinating international political and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation around Ukraine.

Zelensky stressed the importance of ensuring the sustainable development of the national economy under the current circumstances. He thanked the European Union for its timely decision to allocate 1.2 billion euros in macro-financial assistance.

The leaders also agreed on positions on the future dialogue between Ukraine and the European Union for 2022.
