The Court of Appeal refused to place Ali Aliyev under house arrest

Jafarov and Another officer who survived the accident called Aliyev’s statements slanderous.

At the meeting in BAM, the lawyers filed a motion to terminate the criminal proceedings because the claim was unfounded.

In particular, it was noted that Aliyev expressed his views on the accident that killed 14 servicemen. He said he simply doubted the official version of the cause of the accident. At that time, he did not slander anyone personally.

On the other hand, the lawyer Javad Javadov noted that, The trial in the Yasamal district court was held in gross violation of procedural norms.

“Ali Aliyev was not allowed to have the last word. Lawyers were not allowed to prepare for the final speech. The examination of the audio recordings of the trial in the court of first instance would confirm these violations.

These violations are already grounds for revocation of the sentence. We have also filed a motion to place Aliyev under house arrest if the criminal proceedings are not terminated, ”Javadov said.

Another lawyer Aqil Layij also believes that the violations in the court of first instance are sufficient to overturn the verdict.
