The Court of Appeal did not release Ali Aliyev

Baku / 14.02.22 On February 14, in the Baku Court of Appeal “Citizen and The appeal against the verdict against the leader of the “Development” party Ali Aliyev has been completed. The Court of Appeal upheld the arrest for 5 months.

Human rights activist Rufat Safarov, who took part in the trial, said that, Aliyev’s arrest political called the order. He also told the court that, he is under pressure in custody and threatened with death. In addition, he is a recidivist and said he was kept in the same cell with the drug addicts.

Safarov expressed outrage at the detention of Aliyev, a teacher and scientist, along with criminal elements.

As for the threats, “this is no longer repression, but physical terror,” he added and the public and called on international organizations not to remain indifferent.
