Scammers steal data from Android users via Chrome through banners

Fraud on the Internet is constantly on the rise. Cybersecurity Experts working in the field over the popular browser Android reported a new scam that allows users to steal information. According to the information, as part of a new method of fraud, fraudsters place banners on various sites covering online stores. The banners offer users to update their browsers.

Users who click on these banners, thinking that the browser will be updated, will eventually launch malware, not the update. It was noted in the report that, the browser used is obsolete and Notifications that it needs to be updated are mostly found among Android users. However, it is possible that such notifications may be displayed to users of other operating systems. In addition to stealing user information, such banners can also redirect users to fraudulent sites. Experts are already obsolete to mobile device users Chrome 89 recommended to update the browser.
