Tokayev said he would not accept local or foreign awards
Kazakh President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev has decided not to accept local or foreign awards until the end of his presidency.
This was reported to Tengrinews.kz by the President’s press service confirmed.
According to spokesman Yerbola Edilov, the Russian side offered to award Kasym-Jomart Tokayev with the Alexander Nevsky Order.
“But the head of state thanked for the honor. Because Tokayev has decided not to accept local or foreign awards until the end of his term. For the same reason, during a recent visit to Bishkek, the president resigned from Kyrgyzstan’s highest order. We are talking about the Order of Manas of the first degree.
On July 17, President Tokayev said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum that Kazakhstan did not plan to recognize the so-called LPR and the DPRK, and complained about the false statements of a number of Russian MPs.
Kasim-Jomart Tokayev was the chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan in 2013-2019. He won the 2019 early presidential election with 70.96 percent of the vote.
