The authoritarian leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, claimed that a missile was launched from Ukraine into Belarus without providing any evidence.

He said that the incident happened a few days ago and Ukraine from the territory of Belarus military said that there were attempts to attack their facilities. The state of Belarus news agency BELTA quoted Lukashenka on July 2:

According to “Kommersant”, he made these claims during his speech at the event on the Independence Day of Belarus.

According to him, Belarus does not intend to fight in Ukraine, but will fight only if there is an attack. Lukashenka noted that he ordered the military to “target” the decision-making centers of the “Minsk opponents”.

He also emphasized that NATO and European Union Russia and “interested in new provocations” against Belarus.

So far, Ukraine has not commented on Lukashenka’s claims.

Although Belarus is not a direct participant in the war in Ukraine, it provides material and technical support to the invading Russia. Also, a part of Russian troops entered Ukraine by crossing the border of Belarus.

Due to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Western countries have imposed several serious financial sanctions against Belarus.
