At the end of the 1980s, after the Kurkasa village of the region was flooded, houses were built in the region’s floodplain – near the Banka settlement.

“In the neighboring settlement gas there is, we don’t have”

Families were moved from the flooded village to those houses, thus Shirvan village was born. However, the residents have been suffering for more than 35 years due to the lack of blue fuel in the village. Teymur Babayev continues:

“There is a distance of 8 kilometers between Banka settlement and there is blue fuel there, but we don’t have it. 35 years of this small go to the village they don’t draw the line. Every year, they send the population away, saying “it will happen next year”.

About 70 families live in the village. In spring and summer, the population uses liquid gas cylinders and electric heaters.

“We used to cut the roads, now it is prohibited”

Residents fill their gas cylinders in the neighboring Banka settlement. It is not possible to send off the autumn and winter months in these ways:

“Our main difficulties start from the beginning of October. When the weather gets cold, we must light a wood stove so that we can heat the houses. We pay 120 manats when buying Odunus with Lapet, and 250 manats when buying it with Kamaz. “Personally, I have to buy firewood with three Kamaz trucks until I finish one cold season.”

Previously, the population village they cut and burned the dead trees in the area. In recent years, this has also been banned, whitehungry villagers who cut are fined.

“Our fields are burning from thirst”

The problem of the village does not end there. Fields are burning with thirst. Teymur Babayev says that when there is water for one day, there is no water for five days:

“The population has stopped farming. Everyone had 3-5 animals at their door, it is not profitable to keep more animals, feed is expensive, it is not possible to deliver it. The one who can’t deliver feed takes away and sells his animal. There is unemployment in the village, there is a ban on fishing starting from April, and we are trying to stay on our feet until September. We are waiting for September to come, for the sea fishing season to come, let’s go, catch fish and eat. “There is no one who is interested in the people, let’s go and see how the people live in this village.”
