The director suffering from Parkinson’s started shooting the next part of the TV series “The Kingdom”.

The first part of the series was broadcast 28 years ago

Danish director and screenwriter Lars von Trier has reportedly been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

The international film production company “Zentropa Films”, founded by Trier, informed about this. confirmed.

Parkinson’s disease belongs to the group of neuroendogenous diseases. The disease develops with the destruction of dopamine neurons in the central nervous system.

The company said that the director is busy with the shooting of the third part of the TV series “The Kingdom” in addition to receiving treatment.

The first parts of the series were presented in 1994 and 1997.

Trier was born in 1965 in Copenhagen. He has been in the film industry for more than forty years. He experiments with technical and stylistic innovations: existential, social, political issues such as mental health are prominent in their films.

He received more than a hundred awards at world-wide festivals. It has sold more than 350 million tickets and has been nominated for seven Oscars in the last 25 years. He is the founder of the international film production company “Zentropa Films”.

He is the author of the worldwide cult films “Breaking the Waves”, “Dancer in the Dark”, “Dogville”, “Manderlay”, “Antichrist”, “Melancholia”, “Nymphomaniac”, “The House that Jack Built”.
