Lukoil stops transporting oil through the Baku-Ceyhan pipeline

Russia which buys its oil to transport through BTC SOCAR and BP, which heads the consortium, refused to comment on the news

The Russian company Lukoil has been producing oil from the Caspian Sea since December Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline will stop.

Reuters agency, citing four sources familiar with the matter, reports that Lukoil will transport oil through the Caspian Belt Consortium (KKK) system due to Western sanctions.

Europe Union’s embargo, which came into effect on December 5 Europe prohibits the import and transportation of oil from Russia to its buyers.

The KKK pipeline, which transports Kazakh oil, was exempted from this ban.

“BTC Russia does not want to transport oil”

One source told Reuters:

Lukoil transported oil produced from the Yuri Korchagin and Filanovsky fields in the Caspian Sea through the BTC pipeline.
