BERLIN, 24 january (Reuters) – German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has decided to send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine and USA Abrams has also given permission to other countries, such as Poland, to supply the tanks, Spiegel magazine reported on Tuesday.
A government spokesman declined to comment. It was not possible to get a comment from the Ministry of Defense.
Spiegel said the decision concerns at least one company of Leopard 2 A6 tanks to be supplied from Bundeswehr reserves.
The magazine writes that, for example, other allies in Scandinavia, along with Germany, intend to supply Kiev with Leopard tanks.
According to the magazine, more tanks can be restored for longer service life.
