Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Iran’s Foreign Minister Huseyn Amir-Abdullahian had a telephone conversation.

“Report” was informed about this by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

The ministers discussed bilateral and regional issues, as well as the current regional situation in the post-conflict period.

During the telephone conversation, the issues arising from the last meetings held between the co-chairs of the Azerbaijan-Iran State Commission on economic, trade and humanitarian cooperation and the next steps to be taken were considered.

In addition, the contribution of high-level meetings and inter-agency contacts between the two countries in recent weeks to the development of Azerbaijan-Iran relations was highly appreciated.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Huseyn Amir-Abdullahian once again recalled with pleasure his meeting with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev within the framework of his visit to our country to participate in the Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement held in our country at the beginning of July.

At the same time, the ministers discussed the necessary steps for the full normalization of relations between the two countries.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov pointed out that despite the peace proposals put forward by Azerbaijan and the initiatives aimed at the normalization of relations in the region, the military and political provocations of the Armenian leadership against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan have hit these efforts. He emphasized that the congratulations addressed to the so-called regime by the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on September 2 are in complete contradiction with his statements on supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, including the Karabakh region. At the same time, the importance of denouncing the illegal activity of the so-called regime created by Armenia under the name of “election” was noted. The biggest threat in the region is over 10,000 Armenian armed forces, it was said that it is necessary to remove and disarm them from our territories.

The parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
