“Agrarkredit” OJSC filed a lawsuit against them

About 18 million manats are demanded from Jahangir Hajiyev, the imprisoned former head of “International Bank of Azerbaijan” OJSC, and two of his friends who were convicted.

These are former deputy, head of General Construction company Dunyamin Khalilov, and Azad Javadov, who was the head of Baku Hazelnut Processing Plant.

Both of them are currently being tried again at the Baku Court of Serious Crimes.

On September 18, it was revealed in court that “Agrarkredit” OJSC filed a civil lawsuit against them in the amount of 17,735,000 manats.

Judge Ali Mammadov said that the court has received a civil suit with such content.

The representative of “Agrarkredit” defended the civil lawsuit in the court and said that the issue related to the problematic loans of the International Bank was entrusted to this institution.

According to the representative, Dunyamin Khalilov and Azad Javadov took advantage of their friendship with the former head of the bank, Jahangir Hajiyev, and loans were formalized in the name of 9 people.

The representative claimed that they themselves appropriated the money taken. However, Dunyamin Khalilov and Azad Javadov did not accept the accusations made by the representative.

They said that they did not cause any damage to “Agrarkredit” and did not owe it.

Later, the prosecutor announced the indictment.

The former deputy and the former head of the Baku Hazelnut Processing Plant have pleaded not guilty.

Both of them were previously convicted in the International Bank case and have been in prison for a long time.

Dunyamin Khalilov and Azad Javadov have been tried before in connection with the International Bank case.

This time, they were accused of embezzling another 6 million 603 thousand manats from the bank.

According to the indictment, Dunyamin Khalilov and Azad Javadov executed the illegal instructions given by the former head of the bank, Jahangir Hajiyev, and sent the employees of the institution they headed to different branches of the bank.

There, loans have been formalized in the names of employees. In this way, more than 6 million 600 thousand manat money taken from the bank was embezzled.

The investigation of this criminal case was conducted by the Anti-Corruption Department.

The attitude of Dunyamin Khalilov and Azad Javadov to this accusation is unknown. However, they pleaded not guilty at the previous trial. Nevertheless, both of them were indicted at the Baku Court of Serious Crimes.

According to the verdict, Dunyamin Khalilov was sentenced to 13 years and Azad Javadov to 11 years.

The Baku Appellate Court reduced the sentence of the former deputy by 3 months.

Jahangir Hajiyev, who has been in prison since December 2015, was sentenced to 16 years and 3 months of imprisonment. He does not plead guilty, he says that he was arrested by order.
