Sports Ministry comments on coronavirus case

“We have not received any, no suspicious information about coronavirus infection among Azerbaijani athletes so far,” Press Secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan Samaya Mammadova told Report.

According to the ministry official, before the quarantine, the athletes living in the country returned home from training camps and competitions: “They spend quarantine period at home. The federation informed the ministry regularly on the health of athletes.

We said federations that the ministry has all conditions to conduct tests and keep athletes in quarantine if necessary.”

Notably, Azerbaijani Olympic champion, world and European champion in freestyle wrestling, Sharif Sharifov, who is currently in Makhachkala, told Report that he had contracted coronavirus.
