​PMs of CIS countries to mull fight against coronavirus

On May 29, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will discuss joint efforts to combat the spread of coronavirus with the heads of government of the CIS countries, Report says, citing TASS.

According to the press service of the Russian government, the event will take place through videoconferencing.

“The heads of government will focus on topical issues of economic cooperation within the CIS, as well as joint efforts to combat the spread of new coronavirus infection.”

The meeting list includes consideration of the draft strategy for the economic development of the Commonwealth for the period up to 2030, which defines the basic principles and main guidelines for trade and economic cooperation between the CIS countries. Following the results of the Council, the meeting participants will adopt joint documents on the development of collaboration in the fields of transport, energy, education, culture, youth policy, physical education, and sports.

On December 31, 2019, Chinese authorities announced an outbreak of pneumonia in China’s Wuhan, and the causative agent is a new type of coronavirus officially named COVID-19.

On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of a new coronavirus a pandemic.
