Russia’s coronavirus tally hits 511,423 with 6,715 deaths
Russia confirmed 8,987 new coronavirus infections Friday, bringing the country’s official number of cases to 511,423, Report says, citing Operational Headquarters of the country.
Over the past 24 hours, 183 people have died, bringing the total toll to 6,715 — a rate considerably lower than in many other countries hit hard by the pandemic, while 269,370 have recovered fo far.
Moscow has the highest caseload in the country, with 1,714 COVID-19 patients.
The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to more than 200 countries and territories since then.
To date, COVID-19 cases surpassed 7,6 million globally, resulting in more than 3,8 million recoveries and over 424 thousand deaths.
On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
