Iran unveils homemade drone Me’raj-1

On Saturday, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) unveiled a new homemade drone with a service ceiling of 12,000 feet, Tasnim news agency reported.

With a 5 kg payload, the reconnaissance drone named Me’raj-1, has a maximum speed of 140 km/h and weighs 35 kg with a flight endurance of 10.5 hours.

With a wingspan of 3.6 meters, Me’raj-1 has a range of 1,000 km and a data link system with a range of up to 150 km, according to the report.

On Saturday, the IRGC’s commander Hossein Salami unveiled the drone with other new indigenous products manufactured by the IRGC Ground Force.

In the ceremony, Salami introduced a BTR-50 personnel carrier, the turret of which is equipped with a fire-control system, thermal night-vision cameras, and a laser distance measurement system that can hit a surface and aerial targets.

The vehicle also has a 30-mm caliber automatic cannon and a 7.62-mm caliber machine gun, controlled by a gunner inside the vehicle.
