Foreigners reduce card transactions in Azerbaijan by 76%

The volume of transactions made by foreign citizens in Azerbaijan using bank cards in May this year accounted for 24.3 million AZN, Report says, citing Export Review prepared by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications (CAERC).

This figure is $ 76.6 million or 75.92% less compared to the same period last year.

The decline is due to a reduction in the flow of tourists to the country since March this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. In general, in January-May 2020, the volume of transactions made by foreigners decreased by 219.7 million AZN or 46.19% than in the same period last year and made 256 million AZN.
