US coronavirus cases rise by 75,000 in single day

The United States surpassed its single day new coronavirus cases record on Thursday with more than 75,000, Report says, citing TASS according to a New York Times database. According to Johns Hopkins University’s data, the number of new cases over 24 hours was 68,428 — which is also recorded by their count.

On June 24, the record number was 37,014 in the US. However, the figure has since almost doubled and seen a record 11 times in the past month.

On Thursday morning, the country surpassed 3.5 million infections, the highest out of any state. According to data from John Hopkins University, deaths exceeded 138,000.

Ten states hit record deaths from coronavirus complications this week. On Thursday, Florida ran a record of 156 deaths.

The Washington Post previously reported that hospital capacity in several states badly hit with surging cases like Arizona, Florida, Texas, and Alabama is nearing capacity. Earlier this week, Alabama reported that 87% of the state’s ICU beds were already filled.

Public health officials like Dr. Anthony Fauci, the US’ leading infectious disease expert, warned that if safety measures aren’t implemented in states seeing surges, the country could soon see 100,000 coronavirus cases a day.
