WHO unveils latest situation on coronavirus

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases globally has increased by more than 226,000 over the past day, Report says, citing the World Health Organization’s statement. 

Thus, the number of people infected with COVID-19 exceeded 13.3 million.

According to the WHO’s information, so far, 13,378,853 people have contracted coronavirus. Another 5,579 patients fell victim to the virus, bringing the official global number to 580,045.

North and South American states are worst hit countries with 7,016,851 cases of COVID-19 infection in the continent.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to over 200 countries and territories since then.

 On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
