TikTok plans to add 10,000 jobs in US

Short-form video-sharing app TikTok is planning to add about 10,000 jobs in the United States over the next three years, the company said on Tuesday, Report says, citing Axios.

The company, owned by China’s ByteDance, is also considering London, among other locations, for setting up its headquarters. TikTok now has about 1,400 employees in the United States, up from less than 500 in January this year.

It’s supporting the country’s tremendous growth and follows our strategy of building out teams where we have users,” Gartner told Axios.

The company plans to hire for jobs in engineering, sales, content moderation, and customer service, focusing on growing workforces in California, New York, Texas, Florida, and Tennessee, Gartner said.

On July 6, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the Trump administration is considering restricting United States’ users’ access to the Chinese social media application TikTok, Report says, citing RIA Novosti.

“We are taking this very seriously, and we are certainly looking at it. We have worked on this very issue for a long time, whether it’s a problem of having Huawei technology in your infrastructure — we’ve gone all over the world and are making real progress,” said Pompeo.
