ECDC: Coronavirus to stay with humanity for long time

The head of the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), Andrea Ammon, believes that the novel coronavirus will remain with humanity for a long time, despite the slowdown in the growth of incidence and the start of vaccination.

Report informs referring to Agence France-Presse.

Ammon particularly urged European countries not to lose their vigilance against the virus, which, ‘apparently, has adapted very well to humans’ and may require experts to adjust the vaccine over time.

“Therefore, we must be prepared for the fact that it stays with us,” she said.

On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared the novel coronavirus infection outbreak a pandemic. According to Johns Hopkins University, the number of COVID-19 cases in the world has exceeded 108 million, 2.3 million people have died.
