Baku, Kyiv to deepen cooperation in education

Azerbaijan and Ukraine have agreed to resume the agreement on cooperation in education, Report informs, citing Ukraine’s Minister of Education and Science Serhiy Shkarlet.

“The agreement between the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Ukraine and Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan on cooperation in the sphere of education was signed in 1997. Unfortunately, it lost its power in 2007, and at the meeting with Mrs. Ambassador [ of Azerbaijan in Ukraine Elmira Akhundova – ed.], we decided to resume this agreement on cooperation in the sphere of education,” the minister said.

Shkarlet noted with regret that Ukraine and Azerbaijan currently have no programs of interstate exchange but ‘as part of the interstate commission, it can be agreed and considered on how to move forward.’

“We, with respected Ambassador Elmira Akhundova, discussed the issue of the intergovernmental commission on deepening cooperation in educational programs. We have interstate scholarships with other countries, for example, with Tajikistan, China, African states,” Shkarlet said.
