Pundit raps Iran, hopes ethnic Azerbaijanis in Iran won’t be indifferent to tension

“Iran was illegally transporting cargo to Karabakh. They did not pay attention to the warning and a protest note through diplomatic channels. Finally, we had to take control of the Goris-Kafan road,” pundit Elxan Shahinoglu of the Atlas Research Center told Report.

He said that the neighboring country is hurting itself the most with its recent stance and rhetoric.

“Iran is interfering in our internal affairs and expresses dissatisfaction with the Azerbaijani-Turkish-Pakistani cooperation and our purchase of weapons from Israel. However, we do not interfere in Tehran’s domestic affairs. Thus, Iran is artificially creating tension. Our southern neighbor also does not want the Zangazur corridor to be opened. However, this is only an issue between Baku and Yerevan.”

The pundit believes that Iran’s new President Ebrahim Raisi and his conservative team are either novices in politics or have chosen the path of tension in relations with Baku.

“As a result, Iran will suffer the most. Our compatriots living there will not remain indifferent to the process. As long as aggressive policies and false accusations continue, relations will not normalize. They will not be able to achieve anything by banning the use of airspace anyway. We will use alternative ways. As I said, they have deliberately chosen the path of tension, and it will have a boomerang effect.”

Today, Iran informed Azerbaijan through official-military channels that flights of planes carrying more military equipment to Nakhchivan was banned.
