Turkish military actively participate in military drills in Ukraine

“The Verkhovna Rada (parliament) of Ukraine has recently approved an agreement on military cooperation with Turkey,” Oleksandr Polishchuk, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, said in an interview with the East European Bureau of Report.

He noted that this agreement makes it possible to work more purposefully on specific programs: “Currently, 26 of our officers are being trained in military academies in Turkey. And this fully coincides with the task assigned to our Armed Forces to train personnel under NATO programs.

Turkey, as one of the most powerful NATO countries, has a lot to share with us. Turkish officers are also being trained in our country. Since in 2014, when Crimea was occupied, almost all of our navy remained there, we have a joint program for the production of corvettes, aimed at developing perhaps the most affected naval forces. The Turkish military is actively participating in military exercises in Ukraine. By the way, we are grateful to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for everything he has been doing for Ukraine in recent days, we believe that this activity will continue in a positive way.”

The deputy minister noted that Ukraine, which is constantly looking for ways to increase the combat capability of its Armed Forces, also pays attention to products manufactured in Turkey.

“We are interested in developing precisely military-technical cooperation with Turkey.”
