The Taliban announced the appointment of women to leadership positions for the first time since coming to power in Afghanistan in August 2021.

Deputy Minister of Information and Culture Zabihullah Mujahid in social media posts said that so far the talk is only about the healthcare sector, Report informs.

The head of the interim cabinet appointed Dr. Malalai Rahim as the director of the Malalai specialized maternity hospital in Kabul, the only obstetric and gynecological institution of its kind in Afghanistan. And Dr. Arian was appointed director of a gynecological clinic in the Shahrara quarter in Kabul.

After the start of the Taliban offensive in August, President Ashraf Ghani fled the country, most cities surrendered without a fight.
