Minister Rashad Nabiyev on state policy with radio frequencies

Frequencies are a limited resource and the goal of the state is to ensure that everyone has equal access to these resources.

Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev told Report in an exclusive interview, commenting on the activities of the State Commission on Radio Frequencies.

Rashad Nabiyev noted that services provided through frequencies should be competitive:

“The world is changing and from the point of view of frequency regulation, the policy of the state is to provide everyone with equal access to this limited resource, so that in the future the services provided through this resource can be effectively communicated to the citizens of Azerbaijan. And this requires the competitiveness of the services provided”.

On May 4, 2021, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the establishment of the State Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Radio Frequencies.

According to the order, in order to increase the efficiency of the use of radio communication facilities and high-frequency installations in the Republic of Azerbaijan and coordinate the activities of state bodies (structures) in this area, the State Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Radio Frequencies was established.

Chairman of the State Commission is Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, members – Deputy Defense Minister, Deputy Interior Minister, Deputy Head of the State Security Service, Deputy Head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Security.

On December 18, 2021, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree approving the “Regulations on the State Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Radio Frequencies”, on January 18, 2022, the first meeting of the commission was held under the chairmanship of Rashad Nabiyev.
